The finest qualities of old world, 19th century bookmaking resurface in the creation of this book. Full, leather binding with gilt stamping encases this oversize 14" x 10" volume. Marbled eillustrationndpapers, silk ribbon page marker and heavy, gilt edged archival pages are the first things you'll notice. But then, as you begin to page through the chapters, you'll realize the enormity of this collection; 103 paintings reproduced in color with 26 of these presented as full, double page spreads! You'll find more than 100 black and white studies throughout the book but a unique, added plus is an entire chapter devoted to the artist's sketchbooks, giving the viewer an intimate look at the creative process. Then, there's more color! Photographs of historic artifacts plus exacting uniform reproductions utilized by the artist in the creation of these paintings; all these elements are combined under one cover and presented in 288 pages!

About the Artist:

The highly respected French magazine Uniformes proclaimed Keith Rocco an "artist in the tradition of Remington and Detaille." Such lofty praise has been echoed by many of Rocco's fans, and we are working on a high quality book worthy of showcasing his fabulous work.

keithKeith Rocco's artwork appeared on nearly every cover of Napoleon, the International Journal of the French Revolution and Age of Napoleon Bonaparte. Thousands of readers worldwide have been enthralled by his stunning illustrations.

Rocco has won international acclaim for his depiction of the common soldiers of the various nations that fought for and against France from 1796-1815. He earned this reputation by combining diligent research, often working hand in hand with leading uniformologists and historians, with a masterful eye and keen artistic sensibility. Few artists match Rocco's talent in handling color and light, even fewer still can capture a dramatic moment so convincingly, without the slightest false gesture.
